👋 About Massimiliano
Hi! I’m Massimiliano della Rovere, and I live in Pisa, Italy — yes, the one with the leaning tower!
I work as a programmer and analyst, mainly developing software for clinics and hospitals.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about hand calligraphy, cooking, and anything cozy in nature (especially if it's near the seaside!). I’m also a big fan of Italian, Japanese, and Middle Eastern food.
Here’s something unique about me: I’m the kind of programmer who brings a split keyboard, a vertical mouse, and fountain pens to meetings — not the usual programmer kit!

🚀 Massimiliano's Ergonomic Journey
Before discovering Dygma, my ergonomic awareness was close to zero. I already had a vertical mouse, but I was still using a regular keyboard and constantly leaning to find a comfortable position.
I had understood that my wrist and back/side pain was due to the leaning position I assumed trying to find a balanced position for both the mouse and the keyboard in front of me.
I was curious about 75% or 60% keyboards, and while browsing online, I came across a suspicious ad for the Dygma Raise Kickstarter campaign. That led me to email the Dygma team directly to verify. That moment was the beginning of my ergonomic transformation.
"I had understood that my wrist and back/side pain was due to the leaning position I assumed trying to find a balanced position for both the mouse and the keyboard in front of me"
Over time, I adjusted my posture, invested in better tools, and rethought my environment. This culminated in buying one of those ergonomic rocking chairs, the 'Armonia' by Moveo, which I still use every day.

🖥️ Massimiliano's Setup
I use Linux all the time — except when I play Mechwarrior Online. My setup is optimized around simplicity and ergonomics: my Dygma Defy keyboard, my vertical mouse, an elevated external monitor, a Moveo Armonia rocking ergonomic chair, fountain pens and paper for doodling and sketching code architecture.
My productive routine includes doodling and designing code and architecture of the software with fountain pens on paper, as well as rubber duck debugging and rocking on the Moveo Armonia chair.
From time to time, I even talk to my plants… but they never help with programming 😜
And before all of that? Walking. No matter how cold it is or if it's raining, I need to walk at least 45 minutes before starting to work.
Dygma didn’t just help my body; it also improved my work. All 3 of them.
Workflow was streamlined, and programs were configured to implement as many of the same keyboard shortcuts in a specific layer (sometimes as macros).
Health-wise, it was a game-changer. The benefits of health were zero back/side pain and zero wrist numbness over time, so a success that led me to pledge for the Defy campaign!
Even if my mindset hasn’t drastically changed, I’m now more conscious of what I use and why. I'm more aware that spending money on devices or tools I use daily can improve my health if designed to do so.
Being more aware of posture led me to buy one of those ergonomic rocking chairs, the "Armonia" by Moveo, which I still use every day.
