As we wrap up 2024, it’s a perfect time to look back on what an amazing year it’s been for Dygma. We kicked off the year with the last shipments of the Dygma Defy, and now we’re celebrating one of our biggest wins: the launch of the Dygma Raise 2. Time flies when you’re having a blast, and this year has definitely been a wild ride.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on some of the highlights from Dygma this year and, even better, give you a say in what’s coming up in 2025!
Starting Strong: The Early Months of 2024
The year started strong! By January, we had shipped out all the Dygma Defy pre-orders, and production for the second batch of keyboards was in full swing.
These new keyboards began shipping in April and came with fantastic upgrades, like tougher polycarbonate keycaps and sturdier tenting legs for better durability and comfort. These changes helped the Dygma Defy keep up with the high standards of ergonomic keyboard fans.
At the same time, we were also busy working on software upgrades, including firmware updates and the rollout of Bazecor 1.4. This new version lets users configure their keyboards via Bluetooth—something you guys have been wanting. These updates set the stage for what's next: the Dygma Raise 2!
The Raise 2 Launch
March was a big month for us! We kicked off the pre-sale for the Dygma Raise 2, the follow-up to the well-loved Dygma Raise.
Over 1,500 of you jumped on the chance to pre-order the new model, which has incredible features like wireless connectivity, integrated tenting, RGBW backlighting, underglow, and comfy magnetic palm pads.
The firmware challenge
But it wasn't all smooth sailing. Our firmware team ran into some connectivity issues that some users were experiencing.
To tackle this, we decided to completely revamp how the keyboard chips talk to each other, which would take a few months. That meant that firmware updates would be delayed, but we believed the right move to ensure our keyboards were solid in the long run.
Testing the Raise 2
By June, the Design Validation Test (DVT) units for Raise 2 were. This step was super important, and thanks to our beta testers, we were been able to tweak both the hardware and firmware.
Testing nearly 30 keyboards helped us polish the design and fix bugs, ensuring the final version was set for mass production.
Bazecor 1.4 with many new features
By July, we rolled out Bazecor 1.4, and it came with some fantastic upgrades:
New Keyboard Manager: Switching between different keyboards is super simple now.
Redesigned Preferences Menu: Navigating the settings is smoother and more user-friendly.The Raise 2 manufacturing and New Bazecor 1.5
As summer wrapped up, we kicked off the first production run of the Dygma Raise 2.
In October, we hit a significant milestone by shipping out the first batch of the Dygma Raise 2. At the same time, we rolled out Bazecor 1.5.0, which brought a new layout editor and made it easier to customize your keyboard just the way you like it.
New Firmware for the Defy and the Raise 2
The most incredible news was that the firmware makeover we'd been working on was finally done!
By November, we kicked off the public beta for the Dygma Raise 2 and Defy. By December, the firmware for the Raise 2 was up to version 1.1.1, which was a massive boost in stability and functionality.
We've been hard at work testing the firmware 2.0 updates for the Dygma Defy, and they're looking good! The new firmware tackles connectivity issues, boosts battery life, and enhances the LED effects. We aim to roll it out officially in January.
Raise 2 shipping
Regarding the Raise 2, we shipped over two-thirds of the pre-orders by the end of the year, even with some hiccups caused by the palm pads and top panels.
The rest will be delivered during the first half of January.
Despite those delays, we're proud of what we accomplished in 2024.
